This project reorganizes and expands the clinic spaces at the Square and Compass Building at Tucson Medical Center. A phased “move plan” will renovate space for 38,000 s.f. of existing outpatient clinics, and will add 10,000 s.f. of new clinic and office space. In addition, each of the reception areas for the clinics will be adapted to meet current accessibility guidelines and to present a more patient-friendly face to visitors.

The plan improves way finding within the building. Waiting areas are repositioned to better connect them to the existing main doughnut-shaped corridor. Floating “marquees” identify spaces and orient visitors. Directional signs are integrated into the design of the marquees; recessed lighting above the marquees provides a pool of light to draw attention to the signs.
